The passengers received polished service and a pleasant journey. He carried the luggage, remembered every request, kept the train moving—and still had enough dignity left to make the uniform look like it worked for him. Porters of Progress knows professionalism can be both a livelihood and a quiet form of resistance.

Their work created opportunities, circulated news, supported families, and contributed to the growth of Black labor organizing. This is a tribute to the men whose service helped move far more than passengers.
